Coil-on-Chip RFID System
OVERVIEW
The Coil-on-Chip RFID System is a radio-frequency identification system, featuring a precision, uniform-thickness antenna coil directly mounted on the surface of a tiny 2.5mm-square chip. When compared to conventional RFID tags, the Coil-on-Chip RFID tag features smaller size and less deterioration through the antenna connection. Furthermore, the Coil-on-Chip RFID tag can be attached on or embedded in various small objects, and is used in various applications such as medical products, security products, video game amusement cards and counterfeit-proof tags.RFID CHIP
PRECISION ANTENNA COILS MOUNTED ON THE IC CHIP SURFACE
With EF2(Electro Fine Forming)*1, highly precise antenna coils can be mounted directly on the surface of silicon wafers. When compared to conventional RFID tags with external antenna coils, the Coil-on-Chip RFID tag achieves a smaller footprint and rarely malfunctions due to deterioration of contacts or mechanical stress due to the lack of external soldering connections between the antenna coils and the IC chips.LESS INTERFERENCE BETWEEN ADJOINING RFID TAGS
The carrier frequency is 13.56MHz, but the communication distance between a RFID tag and an antenna of reader/writer is very close with 1-to-3mm. Therefore, by designing a system with precisely adjusted RFID tag and reader/writer antenna location, the target tag can be read and written even when tags are adjacent.*2 To see an image of this being used effectively, please click here.MAXELL'S ORIGINAL SECURITY
The communication protocol of Coil-on-Chip RFID chip is Maxell proprietary and is not based on ISO15693. Therefore, only the reader/writer for Coil-on-Chip RFID can read or write the data. Moreover, users can set up "KEY" as a password.CUSTOMIZATION OF RFID PACKAGE
We provide the Card, the Mini-Mold, the Token and the Intelligent Microtube as standard packages. Please contact us or our authorized sales partner to inquire about other packages.
COMMUNICATION DISTANCE
The Coil-on-Chip RFID System is close coupled RFID. Therefore, the communication distance between a RFID tag and an antenna of reader/writer is very close with 1-to-3mm.

BOOSTER COIL
In combination with the Coil-on-Chip RFID tag , booster coils expand the communication distance up to 1-to-2cm (varies depending on the size of booster coils and power output of Reader/Writer modules). It is also possible to virtually expand the memory capacity by n times using a number of chips on one booster coil.
